The ride to the church was uneventful. By this time I was completely perplexed. I had psyched myself up to take on whatever the unholy force catapulted in my direction, but again nothing. I did not let my guard down, I kept thinking of that old saying “expect it when you least expect”.
The service went just as I remembered services to be, long and boring. As I have stated in the past I am not a proponent of organized religion. The unholy presence in my life had not changed that. However, it had strengthened my affirmation in the existence of God.
After the service Jess went up to Father Vicks. He hugged her as if she
was a soldier returning from war. She explained that we needed to talk
to him if at all possible. He agreed without hesitation as he said his
goodbyes to the parishioners. |
